Tupac Shakur, In My Thoughts, Is The Best Rapper There Is. Tupac Amaru
Tupac Shakur, in my thoughts, is the best rapper there is. Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971. He was born in New York. Tupac Amaru are Inca words. Tupac Amaru means a "shining serpent." Shakur means "thankful to God," and that came from the Arabic language. When Tupac was 12 years old, his first performance was a play "A Raisin in the Sun." In that play Tupac played Travis. In June of 1986, Tupac's family moved to Baltimore from New York. That is where Tupac wrote his first rap. 3 months later Tupac attended Baltimore School for the arts. That is where he studied ballet and acting. About two years later Tupac moves west of the United States to Marin City, California. He moved in with a neighbor and then he began to sell drugs. In 1990 Tupac joins Digital Underground a record label where he was a dancer and a rapper. At the beginning of 1991 Tupac makes his album debut on his new label Digital Underground. In November of 91 2Pacalypse Now was released. Shortly after his 2Pacalypse release. Tupac charged a lawsuit of 10 million against an Oakland Police for brutality after being arrested for jaywalking. On January 17, 1992 Tupac makes his first movie appearance in Ernest Dickenson's Juice, where he played a betrayal role of Bishop. On September 22nd, Vice President Dan Quayle accused that Tupac's 2Pacalypse Now "has no place in our society." Next year on February 1, 1993 Tupac came out with another album. Once it was released it went platinum. It went platinum on April 19, 1995 along with 2Pacalypse Now but that went gold only. On July 23, 1993 Tupac makes his second movie appearance on John Singleton's Poetic Justice. Just before filming the movie Janet makes 2Pac take an HIV test before kissing him in any scenes. On Halloween of 93' 2Pac gets arrested for shooting two-off duty police officers from Atalanta. 2Pac said that he was harassed as a black motorist. The charges were dropped. During the end of November 94' while 2Pac is on trial for sex and weapons he was robbed $40,000 of jewelery and was shot five times. The $40,000 worth of jewelery was stolen in a recording studio in Times Square. The robbers had stole 2Pac's $30,000 diamond ring and $10,000 of gold chains. They left his diamond-encrusted gold Rolex. The case of that robbery was unsolved. 2Pac eventually survived the shots. The next day after 2Pac was shot and robbed he was found guilty with sexual abuse. 2Pac was sentenced to four and a half years of jail. He served it in New York's Rikers Island penitentiary. While 2Pac was still in jail his third album came out called Me Against the World. On its debut week Me Against the World was #1 on the Billboard's pop chart. The album goes double platinum seven months later after it first came out. Some time during October 2pac was released from jail by Death Row CEO Suge Knight for 1.4 million bond. Soon after 2Pac was released he flies to Los Angeles and signs with Death Row and begins his new record All Eyez on Me. On the 13 of February 2Pac's All Eyez on Me, Death Row debut was the first ever rap double C.D was released.. Exactly a month later All Eyez on Me goes quintuple platinum. In the month of May 2Pac and another member of Death Row Snoop Doggy Dogg released "2 of Americaz Most Wanted." It is a video which caricatured Biggie and Puff who are punished in the movie for setting up 2Pac. 2Pac comes back to New York on September 4th for a MTV Music Video Awards and then gets to a little scuffle. Three days later in Las Vegas after the Mike Tyson - Bruce Seldon fight, Shakur was shot four times in the chest while he was in Suge Knights car. 2Pac was shot by an assailant in a white Cadillac. Knight escapes with a minor injury. While 2Pac is rushed to University Medical Center where his right lung was taken out. Six days after 2pac was shot he died at exactly 4:03 PM. He died at the age of 25. His body was cremated. A year

Free Essays on Its A Mans World
Itââ¬â¢s a Manââ¬â¢s World The womanââ¬â¢s role has transformed throughout history. Less than a century ago, only specific professions were open to females, and even these jobs were perceived as second-class, not as creditable or important as menââ¬â¢s work. Still, women fought long and hard for gender equality. Today, women have the right to vote, most, if not all, jobs are open to women, and equal pay, it seems, is a reality society will soon come to know. However, just as society has begun to feel almost ready to accept women as manââ¬â¢s equal, all one must do is open a magazine, and all the hopes and dreams for a gender-equal society seem to come tumbling down. Women are splashed in every magazine, wearing minimal clothing, posing in suggestive manners, and, in ads that include men, are almost always presented under male domination. Thus, one can draw only one conclusion: The image of women in advertising is unrealistic, sexist and the brainchild of men. The world of advertising consists of super thin models, perfectly shaped, and flawless in every way. However, it seems that it is only in the land of publicity where these women hold the majority. Looking up from the magazine and into the real world, itââ¬â¢s been calculated the average woman weighs 23% more than a fashion model found displayed in ads. In addition, women between the ages of 18-34 have a slim 7% probability of being as skinny as a runway model and improbable 1% likelihood of being as thin as a supermodel. (Media scope: Body Image and Advertising) False reflections of the ââ¬Å"averageâ⬠women, which are clearly boasted all over the United States and Canada, affect womenââ¬â¢s self esteem and self-image. 69% of women say the advertised models have manipulated their idea of the ââ¬Å"perfect bodyâ⬠. What were the origins of African-American slavery Essay
What were the origins of African-American slavery - Essay Example However, these were not actually the first slave. This is because slave trade had long started before the 16th century i.e. during the Triangular trade or transatlantic trade, which involved the Americans, Europeans and the Africans. In the transatlantic trade, slave traders delivered slaves captured in war from Africa to work in the South America in exchange for sugar and tobacco. After the first batch of slaves in 1641, the colony of Massachusetts made slavery legal and then Virginia followed suit in the year 1660. Slavery intensified in the 17th and 18th century being enforced further in 1787 when U.S constitution was drafted to prohibit congress from meddling with slave trade before 1808 (Berlin, 2003). After the American Revolution War 1775-83, Americans began associating enslavement and oppression of Africans to the manner in which they were manhandled by the British. The slaves had no right to vacation, wages, owning property and marriage. This led to call for slavery ban, acknowledgement of slaves as three-fifth of a person for taxation purposes and recognition of slave as person held under service. Mostly in 1800ââ¬â¢s slavery in North America was viewed as oppression amongst many, however, people of South America did not conquer with this opinion. This is because they relied heavily on slave labor and abolition of slavery would amount to loss of much of their wealth (Franklin, 2000). Despite the above progress, South faced Economic crisis in late 18th century as a result continued slavery in contrast to the North America. This was in the European industrialization period and there was high demand for cotton, South America cash crop. Moreover, the invention of the mechanical cotton gin in 1793 required more manpower. Consequently, the south continued slave trade to counter the huge labor demand and to meet their export demands. However, between

DHL Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
DHL - Research Paper Example All the operation of the firm is based on this segmentation strategy of the company. The company believes to segment and operate their business based on buyer behavior which gives a more accurate approach for DHL to satisfy their customers. The first segment is dominated by the price and the supply chain capacity of the customers which aligns with the administrator producer coding metric. The second segment is driven by performance reliability. This integrates with integrator administrator coding metric and the third segmentation of DHL is based on highest value based attributes like customers interaction, innovators of supply chain. Then each segment is further controlled by collaborator, perfectionist and price zealots approach (Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting, 2010, p. 16-18). Focus Strategy Focusing a particular market is done by any company with mainly three techniques. Porterââ¬â¢s Generic Strategy acts as a very important tool for the company to identify the focus strategy to follow for the business. The below figure shows a Porterââ¬â¢s Generic model- Figure 1: Porter's Generic Model (Source: Botten, 2007, p. 264) The focus strategy adopted by DHL is differentiation strategy. It differentiates its services from the competitors with their focused approach towards the specific customers with their uniqueness in service for them. By the improvement of the infrastructural development the company is providing remote location services which many of the competitors are not able to offer to the customers. Selected market segment gets benefits from the company with their focused differentiation strategy. The company mainly focuses on the mid level and the smaller business units for their businesses and offers service benefits to the niche segment of the market with their customized approach. This customer centric approach of the company gives greater flexibility for the customers to adopt their service and at the same rate provided by other companies in the market. Key success metrics The key success factor of any company depends on its adaptive capability with the changing environment. The change in the trend of consumer behaviors and the market trend are needed to be analyzed by the company to maintain a sustainable position in the market. DHL main success factors can be referred as the changes in the companyââ¬â¢s strategy due to changes in the market trend with its market fragmentation due to competition and saturation at particular market. The changing taste of the customer also forced the company to implement customer centric strategies which matched with the customer preferences from time to time (DHL-a, 2011). The sector approach of DHL is the main reason for the success of the company. The growth in each sector of Retail, Consumer, Technology, Automotive, Health care and others have constantly influenced the company to implement strategies to suit the need of the market. The sector oriented logistic system is another reason for success of DHL. The business of the company sector wise in the year 2011 is shown in the figure below. British National Identity Through the Lens of British Media Essay
Within a few minutes after the ambulance had pulled up to the scene, the paparazzi photographers descended and began to shoot pictures for so-called exclusives to be published in the following day's edition of their respective tabloids. One way or another, other journalists and their cameramen found their ways to the tunnel underpass in Paris on August 31, 1997, and the UK as well as the rest of the world received the breaking news that Diana, Princess of Wales, had died that night in a car crash. What was astonishing was not the rapidity of the news- that is, after all, the beauty of modern broadcasting technology- but the effect that the news had on the public. In the following weeks and months, story after story demonstrated the extent of the late Princess' popularity as the pictures and video clips showed the gates in front of Buckingham Palace disappearing under the oceans of flowers and memorials devoted to Princess Diana. While some Britons were skeptical of such an outpouring of grief, the majority of Britons shared their collective mourning as well as anger when it was reported that the flag had not been lowered to half-mast at Diana's funeral as the Queen was not in residence at Buckingham Palace at the time. Thanks to the news media, people all over Britain could keep abreast of all these small details regarding the news event of the late Diana and share their feelings together, creating a sense of national identity in the wake of a tragedy. But what exactly is national identity? The British don't seem to know anymore than anyone else does; they are currently wondering where they fit into the grand picture of a global community. As Roberto Foa from Europa Magazine puts it, "On the one hand, she [Britain] has her... ...umption that others share the same associations with elements particular to British culture (ranging from Coldplay to pubs to the Queen). The identities that join nationalism are fluid and changing; they are determined by the stories that are remembered (Princess Diana's death) and others which are forgotten (the Falklands War, perhaps). What is important to realize is the longstanding role that the media- and television in particular, as a visual and audio medium- have in contributing to this sense of national identity because they are the storytellers of our times. As Joel Montague describes nationality, it "is not so much the result of the existence of such cultural elements as it is dependent upon the existence of sufficient communication between members of the community." (Montague, 44) How else to describe media but as communication between members in a society?

Bob Knowlton Essay
1. DESCRIPTION This case is about a work team that worked together effectively, bonded well and felt comfortable around each other. All until another person (Fester) came into the company who had more knowledge that the leader of the group (Knowlton), causing a form of intimidation causing Knowlton to resign, and the group to be without a leader. 2. DIAGNOSIS. The main problem in this case was the lack of confidence Knowlton developed due to a new member to the company who had more knowledge to bring to the table. Knowlton was impressed by Festerââ¬â¢s approach to the group- analyzed reports, defined the flaws in the group, and new ways to address things. In addition the group was uncomfortable with the amount of knowledge Fester obtained causing lack in work performance- not able to speak out their thoughts/opinion, act with hesitation, and less team meetings. Basically Fester interfered with their normal routine. THEORY: The theory behind all of this was Fester was supposed to be partnered up with Knowlton to get an ideal of his work. However, due to propinquity which Luthans describes as ââ¬Å"individuals affiliate with one another because of partial or geographical proximityâ⬠Fester got involved by reviewing previous report, leading him to raise concerns and questions (2011). Furthermore, according to Newcombââ¬â¢s balance theory of group formation, Fester and Knowlton did not have similar attitudes to common objects and goals of the group causing a failure to connect. Moreover, with Fester pointing out good ideas that would have actually helped the group, the group didnââ¬â¢t want to make that effort to try to take that new approach and was resistant to change. Luthans describes this as the punctuated equilibrium model, ââ¬Å"groups form in a first phase in which a target or mission is set and then are not altered very easily due to a process called inertia, or systematic resistance to changeâ⬠(2011). Lastly Knowlton demonstrated poor leadership skill by leaving the group rather than trying to stick it out. 4. PRESCRIPTION: Short term resolutions: Would be to find the group a new leader. Long term resolutions: Would be for Knowlton to realize his flaws as a leader. He has self-efficacy up until the point that someone obtains more knowledge. Knowlton needs to realize that there will always be someone who know more. Furthermore the group needs to learn to adapt to change and no how to step out of their comfort zones- change up their process, reach for more. 5. FALLOUT: For Knowlton, if doesnââ¬â¢t change his ways he will never be a successful leader and instead a failure (quitter) ââ¬â A true leader does not back down or quit without a fight. Furthermore, if the group donââ¬â¢tââ¬â¢ realize that things are bound to change, then they too will never find an occupation that they are happy with- businesses are growing and change is part of it.
